One of my early reasons for going to college came from a desire to pursue my dream of playing college football. I moved around some (transferred schools) before finding a home at the University of North Alabama.  While the successes on the field never truly manifested themselves, I greatly value and appreciate the education and opportunities that I had as a student athlete. I initially thought I was going to be a coach, but eventually elected to pursue a career as a helping professional.

My 20+ year career in the field of mental health has taken a nontraditional path. After obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW), I conducted prevention programming in k-12 educational settings.  After several years in this role I elected to pursue my Master of Social Work (MSW) in hopes of becoming a licensed mental health therapist.  As I worked in this role and became licensed, I realized that my true calling was to become a psychologist. This required that I return to school and obtain doctoral training in psychology. I currently have dual professional identities and licenses. I am a Licensed Psychologist and a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Georgia.

I have extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings. I have provided services to diverse populations and have worked with a range of presenting concerns. Currently, I work exclusively with adults ages 18 and older.  I can help with generalized anxiety, depression, OCD, performance anxiety, burnout, trauma, stress management, self doubt and issues related to men's health & wellness.  I incorporate a strength based, pragmatic, and culturally affirming approach.

 

In addition to my clinical work, I am also a tenured associate professor of psychology at a local university.   ​Away from work, my primary duties involve time with my family, martial arts, BBQing, trying to be handy around the house and watching sports.
